Marlborough Plaza

Due to the recent closing of many stores in Marlborough Mall closing down for one reason or another, I have had an idea on how to better it.

Instead of closing the mall entirely; I suggest building an apartment building on top of the current building.

I feel this will draw a lot of attention to the Marlborough area, the currently existing Walmart will have more customers than ever before due to the new apartment building... more »

Rejuvenation of old infrastructure that lacked funding

Making integration into Calgary easy by following due diligence, professional standards, approved processes and compliance in an transparent manor. Informational Asymmetry! The person paying for the service can't always take on the all of the risk from a lower position of power. A warranty of completing a transaction in good faith.

What will change for Calgarians if we solve this problem? (Measurable)

"Help bringing all homes up to current home builder standards.... I don't know how long this would take, but I am assuming an ongoing process of improvement!
This means that we can the use the R2 zoned land to the best of it's ability. Making homes self sustainable on a personal level, therefore being able to rent out legal places to stay. Helping stimulating local economy in my neighborhood. Like the landscaper that lives behind me. "

How could we make it happen with technology or data? (Attainable)

"Open source data sharing. Has the house ever had an insurance claim for water? How was the house fixed? Who then inspects the house? If there was a fire in my house... any person in my basement would die if the fire closed off the stairs. (how the flip do I fix that?!?)How is this allowed?
Permit accessibility in layman's terms and professional standards.
I want to make homes self sustainable... How? Data sources on the hot and cold spots of the neighborhood, use wind or solar power, will those sustain the house on it's own and therefore give back to the grid. Cost? ROI? preventing Scope creep!!"

I recently renovated and moved into what was my childhood home, in the same community after selling my own home, also in the ‘hood. The community itself is undergoing considerable... more »

20 Minute Neighbourhood

Imagine this. On a blustery autumn day, you leave your house and you take a 10 minute walk to the gym where you workout. After biking to work you try a new cafe for lunch. After work, you walk your dog around the nearby park. You eat dinner and have a restful evening. You go to bed peacefully and stress free. This could be any neighborhood in Calgary.

Currently, however, this is not the case as Calgary has the problem... more »

Project Leo Scalable Passive Housing

Homes and buildings account for 13% of Canada's overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Cumulative impacts are the total impacts  when all of an areas or industries impacts are added together. Focusing on Calgary's housing market offers a great opportunity to implement large scale change because of it's potential to attack cumulative impacts if these changes are made affordable to the average populace.
