Outdoor Clothes Drying

Many communities have a blanket ban on outdoor clotheslines or dryers. Changing City policy to ensure that communities cannot ban these would allow people to use outdoor drying, reducing significantly the energy consumption of electric dryers for much of the year.

Green Communities with high mobility

What reduces the carbon footprint by utilizing... more »

The data gap is equally huge in terms of how policies, incentives, and initiatives are helping or hindering people to right-size their energy use.

The Proposal

Through Calgary Climate Hub's established connections with... more »

Renfrew Solar Garden Green Bonds

The Renfrew Solar Garden @SPARK successfully demonstrated that Calgary communities want to invest in community power infrastructure.

The project has experienced a rollercoaster ride of attention since the award of the feasibility grant in 2019 and was well-positioned to get the green light using stimulus funds allocated in the fall of 2020. This was thanks to its shovel-ready status and innovative approach to seed projects... more »

Social Good Credit Grant Program

The SCG Program is an initiative that essentially offers communities a grant that can be used to fund community focussed green initiatives in return for community-led volunteer events that are centred on the environment and environmental stewardship. Once the community association and its volunteers complete an event they would receive the SCG and put it towards green initiatives in their community.

For example, the... more »
