Calgary will be the first jurisdiction in Canada to create an online learning platform that fosters entrepreneurial activities for youth city-wide. A digital badging program accessible through either myID or Calgary Public Library can connect YYC youth to transformative formal/informal learning opportunities across different sectors in the community.
My idea, is to create a smaller version of the currently existing validation machine and have one in each carriage of the train. This way, passengers won't have to run as much during rush hours and tickets can be validated with easy once leaving fair... more »

Instead of closing the mall entirely; I suggest building an apartment building on top of the current building.

Instead of having to go to the store to buy bus tickets and passes, I think Calgarians should have the option to download the bus pass or tickets to their smartphone.
The bus pass will have an expiration date and automatically expire when the date is reached. The tickets will also have a count down once one is clicked and shown.
Our City will enable all actors to prosper and participate in the digital economy by integrating processes and municipal assets into the smart city planning processes. Designated zones for living labs will accelerate innovation and market development stimulating the local economy. Calgary will be a 5G ready city by 2020.
Create dementia villages with services, amenities and environments that provide an alternative to hospitalization or institutionalization and provides full scope of support and care for all vulnerable dementia patients and their families. Nobody should suffer from dementia without the benefit of a caring community. Calgary can become a leader in giving people with dementia the dignity they deserve.
Instead of having a yellow line at the platform; replace it with a yellow bar or gate.
The bar or gate cannot move until the incoming train hits a sensor both incoming and exiting the station.
This could also be improvised to work in a way that people exit through one gate and people board through one gate, strategically placed at each door.
City of Calgary cTrains and buses should offer free wifi. The amount of morning and afternoon commuters that would be checking work emails would contribute to the economy, it would encourage transit ridership and the City could use the channel to promote things such as transit apps, low income assistance programs, bus pass reminders, etc.
Intelligent Interconnected Infrastructure offers greater security and liveability during daily life or critical incidents like flooding, fire or intruder attacks. On-off automation, operations and monitoring systems control efficiency of water, electrical, gas, transportation and telecommunications so only limited city segments cease operations and needed resources are diverting elsewhere.
Equitable and resilient urban ecosystems lay at the foundation of a prosperous and smart city. Our program aims to use a spatial model to analyze Calgary’s neighbourhoods for equitable access to nature. Calgarians will be able to designate underserviced areas in their communities for ecosystem enhancement.
The goal is to make Calgary the most accessible and inclusive city in the world whereby equal opportunities exist for all citizens to reach their full potential in places of work, live and play. This opportunity will foster an environment of innovation, collaboration, reflection and participation for all citizens leading to diversified economic growth in a variety of industries.
